  Choutla Residential School in Carcross, Yukon was one of the last of its kind. The school was run by the Anglican Church, the Yukon bishop from 1962 to 67 was Henry Marsh. Marsh was known to the children as Ukulele Yukon as he always carried his ukulele with him.
Apart from the bishop and his wife, all characters are fictional.
