Rogue Diamonds: The Rush for Northern Riches on Dene Land: Rogue geologist Chuck Fipke first discovered diamonds on the Barren Grounds near Yellowknife in Canada's Arctic in 1991. The short timeline precipitated a flurry of negotiations as the mining company raced to satisfy environmental and social requirements, and the Dene redoubled their efforts to hasten their land negotiations.

Born and raised in the North, with many years of experience living and working with the Dene, Ellen Bielawski was part of the Lutselke First Nation negotiation team during this intense time.
